MB10a Dynastarter – temperature (english)
Hi there,
I’m looking for an approximate normal operating temperature range for the MB10a Dynastarter while charging. I’ve done some searching and have only found a maximum housing temperature of 90°C.
What I have is a new dynastarter that is getting hot on a MB10a. It reaches about 50°C after 20 minutes of running the engine. It is charging two 70ah lead acid batteries which are not heavily discharged. I’m only measuring the housing temperature and I don’t want to go any higher than this as no doubt the internal temperature is higher. The owner is concerned as the previous dynastarter burnt out and he doesn’t want this to happen again. I would be most grateful if you could assist me in this matter.
50 degrees should be quite normal. The MB10A manual says battery should be 60Ah for use with the Bosch 0,9 hp dynastarter. So if you have two 70Ah batteries one should expect the dynastart to run much hotter. You might want to test if it is running slightly cooler if charging only one battery. 90 deg C is too much. If you need two batteries maybe you should separate the starter battery.
